Mountainside Tank and Pumping Station

As portions of Blount County Water Authority’s western service area increased in desirability for residential and commercial development, upgrades to the delivery system were necessary to keep up with recent and projected growth. BCWA partnered with CDG to construct a new storage tank and pumping station and upgrade the water treatment plant. The new facility conveys water approximately 25 miles, serves more than 15,000 people and can provide up to 3 million gallons of water per day. BCWA can perform much of its pumping during times when off-peak power rates are available, resulting in lower annual electricity costs. The facility is equipped with a back-up power generator for continued pumping during extended power outages. If demand continues to increase, the overall delivery capacity can be expanded to 5 million gallons per day.
